Archive for Philly Phood Phantasia
Members of VNYB had the pleasure of attending the 18th Annual WIP Wing Bowl in Philadelphia at the Wachovia Center earlier this month. Though we hoped that Philly Phood Phantasia would somehow make a cameo at this event, we were glad to be there as audience members witnessing this maximum consumption of spicy poultry!
Vaudevillains NYB are also love love looooving the amazing ice skating costumes at this year’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver. We are certainly inspired as we plan out our theme and look for the 2011 parade!
Did you happen to miss our performance at this year’s mummer parade? Fear not! We will be adorned in food costumes one again. Stop by Tattooed Moms (530 South Street) on Friday, January 8th from 8pm to 2am for a PBR Art Contest and Party. We will be performing between 10pm and 11pm.
VNYB were pleased to dance and jump and cheer to an original theme song for our Philly Phood Phantasia performance in the 2010 Mummers Parade. Co-captain Jay Roselius and brigade member Gavin Riley composed this original, family-friendly food rap that also touched on our theme of corn subsidies and other goverment subsidized junk food. You can check out the song below:
We are also obsessed with a track by the band Das Racist which had us dancing all the way up Broad Street and all the way down 2 Street (twice!)
This just in: Vaudevillains NYB is very proud to have placed 5th for Best Brigade in the Comic Division for our performance “Philly Phood Phantasia”. We are tied with our score from last year!
A special congrats to Murray Comic Club for placing 1st for the 12th year in a row — breaking the tie for most consecutive wins! We are proud to be in Murray!
It may have been Mummer Fest inside the Philadelphia Convention Center but it was a Mummer extravaganza outside as VNYB worked out the final touches for their parade routine. Check out the video above for a work in progress!
We have just uploaded some parade prep photos onto our Flickr and would like to remind everyone out there that if you take pictures during the Mummers Parade on Friday, please please add them to the Vaudevillains Flickr Pool!
See you Friday!
With just 5 days remaining until the parade – we are busy busy busy finishing up costumes, making up a dance, and freaking out about how much fun it will all be come Friday!
Here are some preview photos of some of the costumes you will see on Broad Street and Two Street!
